You Are Not Being Interviewed; You Are Discovering
You are not being hired; you are engaging.
Lucky for you dear reader, this week my post is super quick. I have stuff on the go that I need to put my energy towards.
But I wanted to ship out a quick note reminding you that if you are a business owner, make sure you think like one. And make sure your communications and processes reflect it.
QBO Tech Tip
- All of my template workflows include details like this, and my Standard Operating Process Guides are start to finish standards for apps and internal processes
Review company settings before doing any client work or when setting up a QBO file from scratch
Company
Company name, logo, entity type, business number - make sure they are all there
Review with client
Sales
Turn on/off key features, such as customer payment terms, custom fields, custom invoice numbers, whether to track inventory quantities, default email messages sent with invoices…
Set up BCC of AR to Dext/Hubdoc/client email addy, so there is a redundant copy of sales documents images
Review with client
Expenses
Turn on/off key features, such as show items and tags, track expenses by customer, make expenses billable, default bill payment terms…
Review with client
Advanced
Turn on numbering for the chart of accounts
This is turned off by default in QBO
Turn off automation
Possible exception of “Pre-fill forms with previously entered content” and then only if transactions are all very much the same content
Credits - both AR and AP should not be applied automatically, they are hard to find again, and they are willy-nilly applied where QBO decides to apply them
